A Five Hour Night Tour
The RV park we’re staying at specializes in working with DC tour companies, and we signed up for one the other day & went on it this evening.
The tour guide, John, was full of interesting information about all of the different memorials we visited.
I really don’t think he stopped talking from the time we left at 6:00 pm until we got back at 11:00pm….of course a tour guide who doesn’t like to talk would not be a good thing.?
The evening was cool and crisp…..and crystal clear – perfect for touring. The City sparkles at night. There sure were alot ot people out enjoying the sites.
Our first stop was near the Capitol for picture taking opportunities, and then a short drive over to the White House. There were some protesters in front of the White House, but they weren’t too bad and we were able to spend a little time there.
I found the FDR Memorial really interesting, and for some reason I didn’t see it on my last visit to DC so I’m glad I saw it this time.
It seemed somewhat ironic that FDR’s statue shows him in a wheelchair, when in real life he tried to avoid being seen in his chair.
Of course, no DC tour would be complete without a visit to the Lincoln Memorial!
Ken especially enjoyed seeing The Korean Memorial and The Vietnam War Memorial.
There are just so many amazing and significant places to pay homage to our great County. Here are a few of those places we were lucky enough to see tonight.
After a nice relaxing day just hanging out at the RV park, it was nice to get out and enjoy the tour tonight. All of the memorials were wonderful to see and are a good reminder of what events, and what people, shaped our Country.
Tomorrow is our last day in this area, and as of right now, we’re not sure what we’ll be doing.
Hope you check in tomorrow night to find out.
