We Are Studs !
We’ve been gone for thirty-three days, traveled through twenty-four states (plus Washington DC) and put over eight thousand miles on Ollie and Stanley.
Tonight….we are home.
We left Sparks at 11:00 a.m. and stopped at Boomtown for breakfast at Mel’s Diner.
After enjoying a “light” meal and playing a few Keno games, we got back onto the road for the final leg of our epic journey.
The ride through the Sierra’s was sure beautiful….everything was so clear and crisp…..the Ox really enjoyed the scenery.
We made a stop at the rest area on Highway 20, and a couple struck up a conversation with Dick regarding our 5th wheel because they liked the size of it.
Dick told them we were just returning from an 8,000 mile trip…..they were quite amazed. Quite frankly….so am I considering how I whine when I have to drive to Chico for anything (which is a whopping 25 miles from home). Guess I won’t be able to get away with that anymore….lol.
We dropped Dick off at his house first, and the dogs were sure excited to be there. Windy took off for her backyard right away, and Shelby just kept rubbing up and down against Dick’s couch. If I didn’t know better, I swear I saw them smiling – especially when they got a treat from Dick.
Ken and I got home around 4:00 pm. Ken’s grandson and his wife house sat and critter sat for us the whole time we were gone, and they did a great job taking care of everything. They even shampooed the carpet for our return.
I’m sure this epic trip will replay itself in all of our memories for a long time to come. Personally, the things I will always remember are:
Going to Reagan & Alaina’s wedding.
Visiting family in Oklahoma
Having our old dogs with us and seeing how well they did.
Being able to spend time with Ken, Dick & Steve and seeing some amazing places !
Thanks to all of you who took the time to travel with us by following our blog.
Until we meet again……happy trails to you !
