“We’ll Be On The Road By 0700 Hrs”

After enjoying a gourmet meal in the trailer last night, we all agreed that we wanted to get an earlier start Tuesday morning.  Instead of leaving around 9:00 a.m. as we have done the past few days, we planned on an earlier start today.

Oops

When I woke up it was after 8:00…Ken was still in bed and Shelby was sound asleep. Dick (as is his custom) had been up for awhile and had already made coffee, walked Windy and taken his shower.

Oh well…..we’re not on a strict schedule right now, because we put on alot of miles on days 4 & 5.

The KOA campground was very nice.  There are two big fenced  K-9 areas that Windy & Shelby really enjoyed.

The greatest thing about the campground were all the Halloween decorations! These  people have the same Halloween spirit (sorry….bad pun) that I have.

We finally rolled out of the KOA at 9:30 a.m. Instead of being earlier than usual, we were later than usual….lol.

We just passed the Mississippi River on Highway 80….what a glorious site!  We’re now crossing into Illinois on highway 74.

The drive through Illinois has been easy. We made a couple of stops so far; first a doggy break at a roadside rest area, and then lunch at KFC in Galesburg.  For some reason, the chicken tastes better than usual….and the pups sure enjoyed the leftovers.

The girls stretching our legs

It’s 7:00 pm now….we passed the Indiana border a little while ago.  We think we might spend the night in the Eastern Indianapolis area….will wait and see how we feel in another hour on the road.  The KOA has room for us if we decide to shut it down for the night.

Well….after dealing with lots of road construction and traffic, we called the KOA & reserved a spot. We decided we had enough for one day.  The roads have been so horrible around the Indianapolis area. It will be a miracle if the trailer holds together.

We got into the KOA Campground in East Indianapolis around 8:30pm. It took us another 30 minutes to get to our site….there were no “office” signs to point the way, and we drove around in a very dark KOA for awhile. We finally saw the pool area and figured the office had to be close by.  We found it, but of course it was closed. Luckily , we found some paperwork hanging on a board nearby with our name on it & a site number.

We’re shutting down for the night after traveling over 500 miles again….maybe we are truckers after all.

Goodnight all:)
